NEIPA (Small Batch Series) (5.5% ABV, bottle)
Hazy amber with a white head, this has resinous and tropical notes on the aroma, but there’s not a big nose. There’s a bigger hit on the palate. Surpisingly for a NEIPA, there’s a decent rich biscuit malt balance. The juicy hop notes aren’t as bold as some examples of the style, but that may make it more accessible to Hall & Woodhouse’s core audience. I really don’t mind that at all. For a traditional brewery, it’s a pretty good beer. A fine start to the new Small Batch Series.
