01: Lemon and Apricot Saison (5.4% ABV, can)
Hazy light amber, with a decent white head, this offers a fruity, quite spicy nose, honey, and apricot skin. On the palate there’s toffee from the malt, with delicate apricot and an edge of lemon. Solid and beautifully refreshing.

12: Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (12.3% ABV, can)
Pours like oil, with a robust head the colour of Demarara sugar. The colour is described as inky black and I’ll go along with that. It’s whisky barrel aged and there’s a big waft of whisky on the nose, to the point where it’s difficult to discern anything else, although I do detect some coffee. Okay, let’s go in… Wow, it’s big and bold. I’ve got the start of a hangover headache after one mouthful. It’s pretty much a dessert in a glass. There’s 440ml when really it should come in a 275ml bottle. Quite a lot going on here. When I dive in I get a vibrant hit of black cherry, accompanied by dark, bitter chocolate, and black coffee. It’s delightful, even though, for me, there’s too much of it!

18: Biere de Garde (5.2% ABV, can)
Hazy gold/light amber, with a white head that stays well, there’s a bready nose with a nice suggestion of spice. Light in tone, there’s nice malt — light toffee — balanced with citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon, and some easy-peel orange, all quite light and subdued. A lovely drop, really easy drinking with a nice dryness on the finish. Very moreish!
