Left Handed Twin Cities

• Left Handed Giant’s Twin Cities gluten-free pale range (5.2% ABV) continues with two more classic Pacific North West varieties, Citra and Mosaic. “Expect blueberry, grapefruit peel, bursting tangerine, and a crisp piney bitterness,” says the brewer. “A blend of jumbo and malted oats on a base of extra pale Maris Otter lend a texture that’s both smooth and light.”

Overtone Sonder

• Sonder (5.5% ABV) is a guava ice cream sour from Overtone, named after a song by Scottish musician Barry Can’t Swim. “It has a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavours, with vanilla ice cream enhancing its smooth finish,” says the brewer.

Oakham ZigZag

• ZigZag (3.4% ABV) is a new seasonal wheat pale from Oakham. The mellow spiciness and subtle floral and herbal notes of German hops Hersbrucker and Magnum are backed up with pineapple, orange, lime, guava, and jasmine aromas and flavours from Slovenian hop variety Cardinal.

UnBarred Bueno stout

• There’s a new brew of UnBarred’s Bueno Shake (6.4% ABV). “This rich, velvety brew is a chocolate lover’s dream,” says the brewer, “layering dark and milk chocolate flavours with irresistible notes of toasted hazelnuts, crispy sweet wafer, and a hint of fragrant vanilla.”

Gipsy Hill Breakbeat

• Breakbeat stout (5.6% ABV) is Gipsy Hill’s first new beer of 2025. Taking inspiration from classic tropical stouts, it is fermented with lager yeast and hopped with Sabro. “Delicious roasty flavours with licks of vanilla and hints of coconut,” says the brewer.

Polly's Erko

• Erko (5.2% ABV) is an easy-going pale ale from Polly’s. Citra and Amarillo bring grassy and pithy bitterness before juice takes over, with a heavy lashing of Azacca and Vic Secret hitting those mango, pineapple and passionfruit notes. “All glued together with a healthy dose of our new favourite yeast strain London Fog for maximum suspension and mouthfeel,” adds the brewer.

CAMRA Mr Porky

• Mr Porky is sponsoring the glasses at next week’s Great British Beer Festival Winter. CAMRA events director, Catherine Tonry, said: “Our oversized, lined glasses are a staple of the UK beer festival scene, so partnership with the quintessential pub snack Mr Porky is a recipe for a perfect pint.”

Amity Elusive Red

• Amity invited Northern Monk and Elusive over to create Red Zone, a 4% ABV red ale. It blends sticky-sweet malt with piney, citrus hops. A classic US blend of Simcoe, Chinook, Centennial, and Amarillo deliver aromas of pine needles, sticky resin, and caramelised orange, and the flavours of pine carry through. Hints of toffee settle on the tongue, and there is an assertive bitterness.

Duke of York

• The Duke of York, in Fitzrovia, London, has removed its pub sign as allegations mount against the royal. Andrew had given permission for the pub to use his likeness in 2014, but the licensees who commissioned it are now retiring. The new era for the pub is seeing the sign replaced.

Bridge Beers

• Bridge Beers, on Newton Moor, Hyde, is to close at the end of May. The last brew day will be at the start of April, after which the kit will be sold. The Micro-Bar and Bottle Shop, on Melbourne Street, Stalybridge, will remain open.

Newbarns West Coast

• Newbarns has tweaked its West Coast Keller (5% ABV), fermented warmer, lagered shorter, and left ever so slightly cloudier than usual, with an addition of Citra. “We typically aim for a very restrained yeast expression in our lagers, but this time we’ve really accentuated the character of our house strain,” says the brewer.

Balance Ripple

• Balance has released Ripple 2023, a 6% ABV wild ale with British raspberries. It’s a blend of four barrels from March and May 2023, fermented with saison yeast, lactobacillus, and Brettanomyces, before ageing for two months on carbonically macerated raspberries. Raspberry aroma mingles with subtle fruity funk and woody, vanilla barrel notes. The base beer has its own fruity character and refreshing acidity bolsters the raspberry jelly flavours leading to a zippy, refreshing finish.
