A sessionable pale ale that punches above its weight — that’s how head brewer Charlie Long is describing new Wimbledon Pale (4.4 ABV).

Wimbledon PaleEarlier this year, four experimental batches were prepared by the brewing team using their microbrewery kit. From these, the best elements were chosen to put the beer into production on Wimbledon Brewery’s 30-barrel facility.

Charlie saId: “It’s a celebration of our favourite brewing ingredients — a classic malt blend, with the addition of oats for a smooth palate, bittering hops, and West Coast US yeast. The nose has lychee and grapefruit aromas, while on the palate there are grapefruit, pineapple and tropical flavours.”

Wimbledon is hoping that the pale ale which bears its name will prove an instant hit during June and July, when the Brewery is at its busiest, supplying local and national pubs, bars and restaurants.

Managing director, David Bateman, said: “We’re delighted to launch this beer at our busiest time of year, and look forward to seeing it served in our customers’ pubs across London, the South East and beyond.

“We plan for Wimbledon Pale to be one of the pillars of our range as we look to the future. The team have worked hard to produce a really accessible beer which reflects our philosophy of the best in brewing traditions, ingredients and expertise.”
