Fresh from securing growth investment from online retailer Honest Brew at the end of last year, Cornwall’s Verdant Brewing Co — named best brewer in the county in the Ratebeer round-up of 2017 — has now revealed plans to open a taproom and seafood bar in Falmouth.

The trio behind the brewery —  Adam Robertson, James Heffron and Richard White — say they have identified suitable premises in the town, already home to well-known beer venues such as The ‘Front, the HAND Bar, Beerwolf and the new Small Ships Black Rock taphouse.

Now they have taken to Crowdfunder to raise £25,000 towards the new project by February 27.

In their pitch, the boys say: “We will offer simple but mouthwateringly tasty tapas-style seafood, alongside some of the UK’s finest hop-forward pale ales, IPAs and double IPAs. Think mussels, scallops, chowder, fresh bread and amazing fries.

“The vibe will be relaxed, If you can’t find a table to sit at, then ask someone to budge up. Get involved and have a grand old time.”

The brewery is based on an industrial site on the edge of town, which has hosted a shop and a bar, but the incredible growth of the business and rise in demand for the mostly hop-forward brews has meant space in te unit is taken up entirely for brewing now.

Investment rewards include drinks (of course) and meals at the taproom, as well as vouchers from the ‘Bank of Verdant’. Find out more on the Crowdfunder page
