Penryn-based Verdant Brewing has taken a reluctant decision to close for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.

The team will be spending time with their families, and promise that beers to be packed on their return will include: Some 50, Strongest of the Strange, Too Many Opinions, There Will Be No Intervals, Lightbulb, Maybe One More PSI, Intimately Spaced Pylons, and Hop City DIPA.

In a statement to customers and followers on Thursday this week (2nd April), Verdant said: “Yesterday, we put up what we thought would be our final web sales for a while. You guys lapped it up and bought it all. We thank you for that, we really are truly amazed every time we list beers online.

“But, sadly for you guys, we are not going to be able to get the beer to you. We had word this morning that ParcelForce don’t have the manpower to service us. So it’s with great regret that we will be cancelling and refunding all of yesterday’s orders. As if things couldn’t get any worse, huh?

“We are now down to five members of staff. Which, in order to manage all the tasks in the brewery, let alone picking and packing mail order and wholesale orders, just isn’t enough people. On top of that, we feel we need time to regroup and come back stronger in two weeks.

“So, as of tomorrow we will be closing our doors to ride out the peak of this pandemic. We will spend time with our families and regroup. On our return we will be stronger and fitter and have more beers available for you guys to order online. We promise.”
