Truman’s Roller IPA has been named winner of the 2020 London Beer Competition. The beer got the top score for quality, value, and packaging.

Truman's Roller IPA

Brewed with hops from the US and Australia, the beer offers huge aromas of citrus and stone fruits. It has a piney undercurrent, dark malt body, and a bitter-sweet grapefruit finish.

Among other gold medal winners were Goodfather porter, from Southern Highlands Brewing, DDH IPA, from Wild Card Brewery, and Grand Cru, from Val-Dieu.

The judges were selected from all areas of the beer industry — writing, brewing, trading, beer sommeliers, marketers, and educators.

Judge interviews continuously revealed the importance of packaging. Some judges even reported that the packaging influenced the resulting taste and flavour, declaring that it set an expectation which, in turn, influenced not only how consumers saw the product, but how their senses responded to it once tasted.

This underscored the importance that London Beer Competition places on packaging as an element of judging and complete assessment of sensory perception.
