Thornbridge Brewery has added four new beers — three in can and one in bottle — to its web shop this week.

Thornbridge February 2020

Pronounced ‘gel-free’, Gelbvieh is a kellerbier brewed in collaboration with Newbarns, of Leith. Expect an unfiltered and hazy pale gold lager with a robust bitterness and a floral, spicy hop character, say the brewer.

After proving hugely popular as part of Thornbridge’s Year of Beer in 2020, Sugar Spun Sister (8% ABV) has returned in cans. A blend of seven malts, the imperial chocolate stout is rich and strong, with intense aromas of dark chocolate and roasted coffee.

Hordaland is a 6% ABV kveik IPA, light in colour and bursting with flavours of pineapple, peach, and grapefruit, with a gentle bitterness. Kveik is a collective term for a family of yeast strains from the area formerly known as Hordaland in Norway.

Finally, Lucid Lupulus (4% ABV) is a CBD (cannabidiol)/CBDA (cannabidiolic acid) pale ale. It pours hazy gold in colour with citrus aromas and a gentle herbal spiciness. It’s light bodied and easy drinking, with a lingering hoppy finish.

The beers are available on the Thornbridge website.
