The organisers behind the 28th Sussex Beer and Cider Festival have announced that the popular Sussex Bar will be returning when the event is staged at Brighton Racecourse from March 22 to 24.
The move aims to properly showcase the county’s 60 breweries, with all the beer cooled throughout the festival. There will be food, too, including vegan and vegetarian options.
All bars will operate a token system. Token refunds will be given for whole pounds only — surplus tokens may be deposited in a charity box and will be passed on to festival charity, Sussex Heart.
Opening times and admission prices will be: Thursday, 5pm-10pm, £5; Friday, 11am-3pm, £6; 5pm-10pm, £8; Saturday, 11am-7pm, £5; 3.30pm-8pm, £2.50 (on door only and with NUS card). Saturday finish may be earlier if the beer runs out.
The number 2 and 22 buses pass the venue and there will be a shuttle bus to and from Brighton train station. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
A minimum of 50 tickets for each session will be available on the door, 20 minutes after the start of each session. Those who buy their tickets in advance will enter the venue first. The ticket price includes a souvenir glass and programme. Card-carrying CAMRA members can also obtain beer tokens worth £2 at the membership stand. If you join CAMRA on the day, you will also receive £2 beer tokens and a copy of the Good Beer Guide.
Advance tickets will be available from Monday, January 24, until Friday, March 18, from: the Evening Star, Brighton; Gardener’s Arms, Brewers Arms, Lewes; Duke of Wellington, Shoreham-by- Sea; Selden Arms, Worthing; Beer Essentials, Horsham; Eagle,Eastbourne; and Tower, St Leonards.
