Cider and pizza restaurant, The Stable, at Fistral Beach, Newquay, has been crowned cider pub of the year 2017 by Cornwall CAMRA.

CAMRA members charted the quality of more than 5,000 pints of cider in Cornwall. Criteria such as the cider quality, overall experience, cleanliness, welcome and service were all taken into account.

Officials from CAMRA Kernow presented The Stable with their award during a day of celebrations and cider tasting. More than 50 CAMRA members and locals got together and raised a glass to the Stable. A special trumpet plaque and flag was presented and hung on the wall by Stable, Fistral, manager, Dan Rollerson, to mark the occasion.

Dan said: It’s great to be recognised by CAMRA for our commitment to cider — they’re the only people we know who are as passionate about cider as we are.”

Linda Dopson, from CAMRA Kernow, said: “If you like cider, the Stable, on Fistral Beach, is the place to go. That choice is unbelievable, as members from Cornwall Camra found out on Saturday.

“Dan and all the staff made us so welcome. We had a taste of their own cider on arrival and later enjoyed Cornish meats and cheeses and the Stable’s lovely pizzas.

“After the presentation … it was time some cider tasting. We tried eight different ciders, from sweet to dry, and raspberry flavoured as well. A very good day in an amazing setting, and thank you, Stable, again.”
