Signature Brew has used a £100,000 invoice finance facility from NatWest to create new jobs and expand with the launch of its debut Taproom.

The London-based business incorporates three brewing units and now the newly-opened Signature Brew Taproom and Venue.

Located under the railway arches next to the Regent’s Canal in Haggerston, East London, the venue provides a place where fresh beer and great music can be enjoyed together.

It serves a range of Signature Brew beers and offers regular live music events. Since opening its doors in September, it has created seven new jobs, which brings the total number of employees across the company to 21.

Founded in 2011 by Tom Bott and Sam McGregor, Signature Brew creates award-winning beers that have a distinct nod to the music industry, and has brewed collaboration beers with for musicians such as Frank Tuner and Alt-J.

Starting with just one brewing unit, the business now has three units at its Leyton base and has turnover of £1.3million for 2018. It was named brewery business of the year 2018 by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).

‘Bringing great beer and great music together’

Tom Bott said: “When we started out in 2011, our long-term goal was to change the face of beer in music venues. We’ve achieved this by bringing great beer and great music together time and again.

“It was only right that our next step for growth was to launch our debut taproom that has fresh beer and live music at its heart. The support, advice and financial knowledge from NatWest has given us access to the cashflow we needed to secure our first ever venue, and we are excited to be open here in East London.”

The deal was supported by NatWest relationship manager, Manveer Degun, and business growth enabler, Daniel Copsey.

Daniel said: “Signature Brew has a truly unique business model, and the fact that it has tripled the size of its business over the last three years is a testament to the quality of its products and the determination of Tom and Sam.

“We’ve supported the business since 2016, and thanks to the finance we have provided, they are now a well-established brewer and soon-to-be established bar operator. I look forward to supporting the team as it continues on its future growth journey.”

• As well as opening its debut taproom, Signature Brew has launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the next step of its journey. This will enable it to move site and install a new brewhouse, to meet current demand and future-proof the operation for the long term. Click crowdcube.com/signaturebrew for more details
