Sheppy’s Cider has launched in Waitrose & Partners as part of the supermarket’s latest product review.

With the UK cider category now worth £3.1bn and experiencing 4% growth over 2018, Waitrose has sought to expand its range of products with two of Sheppy’s most successful bottled products — Sheppy’s 200 Special Edition Cider and Original Cloudy Cider.[

Sheppy's 200

Master of cider and sixth generation craftsman David Sheppy introduced his 200 Special Edition Cider to mark the company’s 200th year of cidermaking in the heart of Somerset. It is a full-flavoured bottled cider made from home-grown traditional cider apple varieties.

It claimed one of Sheppy’s three gold medals at the 2019 International Cider Awards, an industry accolade previously held by David’s grandfather in 1932.

The new listing will also see Sheppy’s Original Cloudy Cider hitting the shelves, just in time for summer. A medium-sweet cider with a light blend of David Sheppy’s traditional Somerset cider and a touch of pure cloudy apple juice, the resulting product is a lightly sparkling cider with a crisp and fruity flavour.

Sheppy said: “This new dual listing with Waitrose is a very proud moment for the team and an exciting new chapter in our 200-year brand history of producing ciders of uncompromising quality and craft heritage.

“We are also very excited to be partnering again with Waitrose, a company which prides itself on selecting products of exceptional quality across the board.

“Although the cider category has experienced excellent growth … in recent years, we believe that the very best cider will always be of the traditional apple variety. We are immensely proud of the two award -variants being launched in Waitrose this spring, as they represent the very best of our craft, something that we at Sheppy’s have been doing for over 200 years.”
