The launch of Sharp’s Just Add Beer book

Sharp’s Brewery is launching a Feast Night during Porthleven Food Festival, in collaboration with the town’s Kota Kai restaurant.

The event will involve a six-course food experience to be accompanied by different matched Sharp’s beers. It will start at 6.30pm for a 7pm sitting, with tickets at £50 per head.

The menu will feature many of the dishes from Sharp’s Brewery’s own cook book, Just Add Beer, created by chefs who either live or who have a strong affiliation to the county, including Kota Kai’s very own culinary talent, Jude Kereama. Well known for creating super exciting dishes, Jude combines the best from land and sea, in a unique fused-Asian style of cooking that draws on his half-Maori, half-Chinese Malay heritage.

There will be fresh Cornish seafood dishes, such as tempura oyster, wasabi tartare, and baby gem, complemented by Sharp’s Camel Valley Pilsner; locally-reared feather blade of Cornish beef, herb olive relish, miso, and cress, accompanied by Wolf Rock IPA; and Sharp’s much-loved, indulgent beeramisu, to be washed down with La Trappe Dubbel.

Sharp’s beer sommelier, Ed Hughes, said: “We always look forward to Porthleven Food and Music Festival, and it is an honour to host our highly-anticipated Feast Night with our friend Jude and Kota Kai at this year’s event.

“We love taking the opportunity to showcase that there is a beer for every dish or occasion, and to open up a new perspective where wine no longer has to be the first thing we reach for when pairing food with drink. The Feast Night menu is really phenomenal and we know all who attend will thoroughly enjoy and hopefully be inspired to go away and experiment more with their own food and beer pairings at home.”
