Sharp’s Brewery is set to showcase a special banana beer at the Padstow Christmas Festival, which runs from December 5 to 8.

The beer has been created by a member of the Sharp’s brewing team, Callum White, who won the annual internal design your own beer competition.

The contest is open to all employees and gives teams from across the business an opportunity to get creative through designing and brewing their own beer on the pilot plant brewery kit, regardless of brewing experience.

This year’s competition saw 30 entries received and judged by head brewer, Aaron McClure, on the criteria of beer name, creativity, style, ingredients, and accompanying story.

Aaron said: “We had some amazing recipes come through and I was so impressed with all of them. It was a difficult decision, but Banamber Ale really captured the creative spirit that we have here at Sharp’s, and I was blown away with the unique ingredients and creativity of Callum’s beer.

“It tastes amazing — I would recommend anyone who is going to be at Padstow Christmas Festival to sample this one!”

Callum’s Banamber Ale has a subtle banana flavour which cuts through the sweet and balanced taste of the dark amber ale. His creation uses roasted malts to complement the essence of sweet banana.
