Robinsons Brewery has continued a multi-million-pound investment programme during the pandemic, including 20 significant refurbishments.

Robinsons pub

Robinsons was shortlisted as pub company of the year at the 2021 Publican Awards, despite the challenges of the last year. Being shortlisted two years running is a real cause of pride for the family-run brewery, which has continued to fly the flag and support its licensees and employees in the face of covid.

Looking forward to 21st June, and with lockdown rules gradually easing, Robinsons has introduced safe and stylish outdoor areas across its pub estate, revamping original patio areas, introducing outdoor heaters, and creating snug seating and sheltered spaces.

Many beer gardens have been transformed into relaxing spaces with marquees, pods, and outdoor dining areas, increasing the number of covers and allowing for a more comfortable experience. The same dedication has been given to the pub interiors.

‘Outdoor areas will remain very popular’

William Robinson, managing director (pub division), said: “Investment, licensee support, and training have been key drivers over the last year in particular. We have invested a large amount of capital expenditure and completed just over 20 pub refurbishments.

“As a result, our pubs have traded well when the weather has permitted. With infection rates at very low levels and on the back of the success of the vaccination programme, the government must permit a full relaxation of restrictions from 21st June.

“We fully expect that outdoor areas will remain very popular; customer safety and great experiences are the bedrock of a great pub visit.”

Ben Robinson, director of tenanted sales, added: “It has been pleasing to have received many enquiries from high-quality operators who have been attracted to run our pubs over the past 12 months.

“In a time where circumstances have prevailed against our industry, and the challenges of the hospitality industry have been apparent for all to see, it has been reassuring that proven operators not only see the value in a business partnership with Robinsons, but they share our optimism for the future of the pub.”
