In one of the more surprising developments of the week, singer Rick Astley has announced he is to open a bar in East London with Mikkeller’s Mikkel Borg Bjergsø.
The Mikkeller Bar is scheduled to open on Friday, October 19. The duo have collaborated before, creating Northern Hop Lager last year.
In an interview with NME, Rick said: “I met Mikkel in 2015 and through his enthusiasm and passion for quality I have fallen back in love with beer.
“It is really exciting to be part of creating Mikkeller’s first bar in the UK. I know we are going to have a lot of fun and drink some great beer.”
Mikkel added: “We have finally found a fantastic location in the Shoreditch district that suits us perfectly.”
