Treen's Brewery Cuckoo

Cloud Cuckoo • Cuckoo • Sunbeam

Cloud Cuckoo (5.9 ABV, cask)
Ruby red with an off-white head, this is the senior version of Cuckoo (below), the happy result of a brewing accident. It’s full of malty notes, but with a decent bittersweet finish. There’s dark toffee, berry fruit and some cherry coming through, with smokiness creeping in on the finish. Well worth seeking out. (19-10-2016)

Cuckoo (4.3% ABV, cask)
The lead beer from one of Cornwall’s best new breweries. Cuckoo is amber with an off-white, creamy head —an excellent best bitter-style brew. There’s honey sweetness in the aroma, along with some cereally malt notes. On the palate, there’s berry fruit, continental milk chocolate, a bit of nuttiness and a hint of vanilla. Moreish, it has a gentle bitter finish. (14-09-2016)

Sunbeam (4.8% ABV, bottle)
This is a cracker of a beer. Golden / light amber with a very slightly off-white head, it’s lightly carbonated, with the head staying well. The nose is slightly spicy with a good underlying malt base. On the palate, good balance, but with a spicy, nutty hop flavour rising above the biscuity malt. It’s clean, refreshing and easy drinking with a great body and a slight suplhury note. Good bittersweet finish. (2018)
