Tesco stores in the South West are now stocking Porthleven pale ale from Skinner’s Brewery, in Truro.

Porthleven is a straw-coloured, zesty pale ale, with strong citrus aromas that kick off with a zip of lemon and lime in the mouth and end with a flash of passion fruit.

In 2014, it was named champion golden ale of the South West by CAMRA.

Brewery founder, Steve Skinner, said: “Porthleven has always been a trail-blazing ale — it was the first beer in Cornwall to use American Citra hops, which give the beer its fantastic zingy character — so it deserves to be our first canned product.

“At Skinner’s, we’re all about quality, and Porthleven tastes just as good in cans as it does in our traditional bottles and on draugh — this is something we had to be certain of before releasing it in a new format.

“We won’t be moving away from our bottles any time soon, but we know that cans offer our customers convenience, both when out and about enjoying the Cornish coastline, and when filling the fridge at home. We’re delighted by the support Tesco continues to offer Skinner’s — here’s to our next milestone!”
