Sharp’s Brewery has launched Offshore, a refreshing Pilsner brewed with Czech yeast and continental hops, which is available in a can.

The beer is inspired by Cornwall’s passion for surfing and those rare moments when the wind turns offshore, creating perfectly clean waves.

Its tropical fruit and herbal lemon aromas, combined with its clean, crisp taste and brisk finish, deliver unique refreshment.

The artwork on the 330ml can is by acclaimed contemporary British artist and Cornwall resident, Neil Canning.  Known for his dramatic landscape paintings, his work for Offshore depicts the wild Atlantic Ocean and dramatic power of the wind and waves.

Dramatic energy

James Nicholls, senior brand manager at Sharp’s Brewery, said: “We are thrilled to be launching Offshore, a Pilsner inspired by the dramatic energy of our home on the north Cornish coast and our passion for surfing.

“At Sharp’s, we are always striving for perfection, whether it’s waves or beer, and in Offshore we have created a super clean, flavoursome, world-class Pilsner to delight and refresh our drinkers.”

Ed Hughes, beer sommelier at Sharp’s Brewery, added: This Pilsner matches perfectly with light fish dishes, such as lemon butter plaice, which is complemented by Offshore’s crisp, citrus fruit taste notes. The beer is the perfect refreshment with lunch on a warm day, or as a sundowner at the end of a day by the sea.

“Pilsners are set to be a huge trend in the beer industry in 2018. The US continues to lead the way on the global stage, and we’re seeing a lot of experimentation with both pilsners and lagers.”

Sharp’s Offshore is a refreshing new identity for the brewery’s award-winning Cornish Pilsner. Offshore will join Sharp’s award-winning portfolio of beers, which includes the UK’s number one cask ale, Doom Bar, and Atlantic, a pale ale that features in the top 30 bestselling ales in England and Wales.
