The Rotary Club of Roundhay has announced its eighth North Leeds Charity Beer Festival taking place on April 5 and 6 and organised with beer writer Sam Parker.

The event will be held at North Leeds Cricket Club, Old Park Road, Roundhay, featuring 36 beers from nine Yorkshire breweries, and eight gins.

Alternative beverages will be available at the club barm and food will be served at all sessions, including home-made samosas and local pork pies. There will also be live music.

Entry to the beer festival remains the same price as last year, at £10 for a festival pack, which includes a glass, programme and three tokens. Discounted advance tickets can be purchased from the festival website; full price tickets are also available on the door. Both cash and card payments will be accepted.

Saturday afternoon will have a family friendly atmosphere in the marque, with children’s packs to keep the youngsters occupied. Entry for kids is free with an accompanied paying adult.

Money raised from the previous festivals has enabled the Rotary Club of Roundhay to support its charity work in the local community and further afield. The club has recently installed two defibrillators, located outside Oakwood Surgery and Moortown Health Centre. It also sponsored the new children’s playground at the Lakeside café.

The club is actively involved with local schools and youth groups, sponsoring children in their personal development through Ocean Sailing and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. In addition, music, writing, and technology events are sponsored. Support has also been given to those affected by earthquakes and tsunamis by sending Shelterboxes and clean water kits.

The club will be announcing further details of the festival via its website and social media channels, so follow it on Twitter and like its Facebook page to keep in touch.
