Sharp’s Brewery has announced and launched tickets for the first of an epic Doom Bar Sessions series, featuring DJ Norman Jay.

The event will offer a unique music experience aboard Padstow’s Jubilee Queen boat — an intimate-feel gig sailing out over the infamous Doom Bar and along the stunning Camel Estuary in Cornwall.

This first-of-its-kind summer session will take place on the evening of Friday, August 17, with boarding at 5.30pm, returning to Padstow harbour at 8.30pm.

Norman Jay is such a major force on the London scene that he was awarded an MBE in 2002 for his services to music. He runs the legendary Good Times stage at Notting Hill Carnival. Good Times now attracts an estimated 15,000 revellers a day during the carnival and has also extended into a series of compilation CDs.

Sharp’s will also shortly be announcing a winter Doom Bar Session which will take place on Saturday, December 8, offering more fun and funk across the Doom Bar.

Awesome music acts

Sharp’s Brewery’s senior brand manager, James Nicholls, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing such awesome music acts to North Cornwall as part of our new Doom Bar Sessions, kicking off with the legend that is Norman Jay.

“With these unique and intimate gigs out on the water, we want to give people a chance to relax and enjoy some quality tunes while taking in the amazing coastline and enjoying a beer.

“Our flagship beer is named after the Doom Bar sandbank which lies underneath the Camel Estuary, a short distance from the brewery. We have created the Doom Bar Sessions to honour this natural wonder and showcase how amazing this part of Cornwall we call home is, so grab your tickets and we’ll see you on board!”
