The Anchor Tap and Bottle Shop, Hartlepool, is gearing up for its second North East Brewers Showcase (NEBS) on November 30, following the success of a first festival earlier this year.

The free-to-enter event, which was held on September 14, included a selection of local brews and food, plus live music organised by local charity Creative Minds.

The team at The Anchor presented the Creative Minds charity with a cheque for £1,000 which it raised on the day, from contributions made by the brewers along with a donation from Camerons Brewery.

The winter edition of this year’s NEBS will take place outside the Anchor on November 30.  A new selection of brewers have been invited and this event will see Alpha Delta, Anarchy Brew Co., Box Social Brewing, Brew York, and Hawkshead Brewery join Tooth & Claw Brewing on the day.  Food will be provided by local ‘parmo’ specialists Parm-O-Rama.

New selection of brewers

Music will again be provided by Creative Minds with a fantastic line-up of local artists. A heated marquee will be erected for the day, and The Anchor will be open during the event and after it finishes.

The NEBS event will take place from noon until 9pm in the yard next to The Anchor. Entry is free with a charge of £1 for an eco-friendly plastic glass.

Tracy I’anson, assistant manager at The Anchor, said: “We were blown away with the success of our first event. The day went better than we could have imagined and we learnt a lot from this. We received so much positive feedback and loads of requests to do another festival this side of Christmas.

“We decided to invite a new selection of brewers to the second event and we are really excited with the quality of brewers attending this one. With it being winter we recognised the dropping temperatures and the weather could have a major impact on the day so we have invested in a marquee to ensure everyone stays warm and dry.”
