Matt Weedon has been appointed head chef at The Fox, a traditional 16th century inn in the centre of Chipping Norton’s historic market place.
Earning multiple accolades, including Michelin stars, at two of the restaurants he headed, he brings a passion for dishes with a strong emphasis on quality ingredients from local suppliers to create good, honest tasty food. His work over the years has been recognised with him being listed in the brigade of Great British Chefs.
With new menus planned, Matt has hit the ground running with dishes such as steak and Hooky Ale shortcrust pastry pie, Arancini risotto balls and Old Hooky beer bread with Marmite butter all getting great reviews.
The kitchen team will be running breakfast, lunch and dinner menus seven days a week, alongside daily special boards serving food in a relaxed, open-plan bar and restaurant. Dinner parties can be catered for in a private dining room that seats 12.
Matt said: “I’m excited to be joining the team at The Fox and looking forward to driving the food and service forward using the very best of local, quality suppliers, to produce a menu fitting for our location here in the Cotswolds.”
Hook Norton Brewery operations manager, Gerard Winder, added: “We have always striven to offer high-quality, honest, locally-sourced food, and with Matt now on board we can really drive this forward and up a level. We have exciting plans with new menus and more beer and food matching.”
