The King’s Arms, in Bexleyheath, has been open for more than 175 years, however, in order to regain its majestic splendour, the pub is, quite literally, undergoing a renaissance.

With exciting changes on the horizon, the pub is being brought bang up to date, without compromising the traditional Great British pub feel. Under the new ownership of the Renaissance Pub Company, the pub is due to re-open in April.

The company is led from the front by owner, Pete Marshall (pictured) who believes in protecting all that is great about the British pub — that’s great beer and ale in a great atmosphere — while ensuring that the needs of the modern customer are being met every day.

He said: “The King’s Arms is truly a celebration of the great British pub. Not only has it served the people of Bexleyheath since 1843, but now we’re aiming to build upon over 175 years of history with a fresh feel.

“We’re painstakingly recreating a traditional pub setting, yet we’ve updated what we offer to match our customers’ needs. We’ll be delighted to launch our new menu, filled with traditional pub food, but we’ll also be on hand to offer busy families a chance to relax over a coffee during an afternoon’s shopping.

Stay connected

“We appreciate working hours are longer than ever, so we’re working hard on our lunchtime menu to help people power through an afternoon at their desk, and our wifi means that they can always stay connected.”

While The King’s Arms represents the opportunity to make great new changes, Pete is just as keen on what elements he is preserving.

He added: “The King’s Arms will be, first and foremost, a stunning Great British pub, so we’ll still be serving a wide range of interesting beers, spirits, ales and wines. Located in the heart of Bexleyheath town centre, The King’s Arms will be the perfect place to meet before a meal or a night out with friends.

“With a Sunday roast boasting the best seasonal vegetables and meat every week, The King’s Arms will be the heartbeat of the town, all day, every day. The building works are under way and we’re all excited to be re-opening with a great new look very soon.”
