Sharp’s Brewery has come away from this year’s International Beer Challenge with a haul of five medals.

The UK’s best-selling cask ale, Doom Bar, took home a silver award, thanks to its enticing aroma of resinous hop, sweet malt and delicate roasted nuts.

Sharp’s Brewery also received bronze awards for Wolf Rock, Seven Souls, Camel Valley Pilsner and Chalky’s Bite.

Chalky’s Bite was created in collaboration with Rick Stein and named after his beloved dog. Matured for three months, this acclaimed, Belgian style beer has become a true classic with its delicate herbal flavour.

Sharp’s Camel Valley Pilsner is a 2016 limited release created in partnership with the acclaimed Cornish wine producer, Camel Valley. This immaculate sparkling beer proved itself so popular when it was first released that another batch was produced the following year due to high demand.

Wolf Rock is named after one of Cornwall’s most infamous offshore reefs, near Land’s End, and the haunting cry that can be heard echoing across the ocean when gales howl through its craggy fissures.

The final Sharp’s beer to receive the judge’s praise and another bronze is Seven Souls, a deep and rich ale with coffee and chocolate notes that was named in honour of the seven souls who perished on the inhospitable craggy outcrop on the rugged North Cornwall coast.

Sharp’s Brewery’s senior brand manager, James Nicholls, said: “Everyone at Sharp’s is delighted to hear that our beers have been recognised so prominently again at the International Beer Challenge.

“The medals are a true testament to our brewing team’s expertise and dedication, and also a celebration of the collaborative work that goes on between Sharp’s and other Cornish businesses, such as Rick Stein and Camel Valley”.

Sam Lindo, second generation winemaker at Camel Valley, said: “We are thrilled that our exciting partnership with Sharp’s Brewery has turned into such an award-winning success. Wherever possible, we are always eager to try something new and the Camel Valley Pilsner is testament to the success of our collaborative work with Sharp’s Brewery.”
