Wye Valley head brewer, Gareth Bateman (left), receives the award from International Brewing Awards chair of judges, Bill Taylor
Wye Valley Brewery has won a silver medal at the International Brewing Awards, in the keg lager category, for its new premium lager, 1985.
Named in celebration of the year Wye Valley Brewery was founded, the Kolsch-style lager is made using Herefordshire hops and, unlike most lagers, ale yeast.
Vernon Amor, managing director of the brewery, said: “We are delighted to have received this award for 1985. We have wanted to produce a premium lager for a long time and we are thrilled to have achieved international recognition so quickly. We are now even more excited to officially launch 1985 nationally this summer.”
