Birmingham’s latest bar was busy for its opening night as Camerons Brewery launched its latest Head of Steam venue in the city.

The Head of Steam offers a choice of more than 100 types of craft beer, real ale and world beer from its 43 keg lines and bottles.

Jim Bentley, operations director at Camerons Brewery, said: “Our launch in Birmingham has been full of fun and sun, with lots of visitors trying us out for the first time. Our selection of burgers has been a big hit, with the Full Head Of Steam burger proving popular, as those with a big appetite took on the challenge.

“It’s been interesting to see which drinks have been the most successful, with plenty to choose from, but we have sold a lot of the Saugatuck Neapolitan Milk Stout, which you have to try!

“We have had nothing but positive feedback about our new venue and brilliant staff, with compliments on the décor, welcoming atmosphere for both humans and dogs, and our selection of beers from around the world. The team at the venue are great, and we are confident the bar will be a success and a great addition to the city.”

The opening night saw one lucky pooch and its owner crowned top dog in a competition launched by the venue ahead of the opening, where they received doggy goody bags and free drinks.

All staff at the new venue are trained to offer recommendations on beers, food pairings and cocktails — perfect for those who aren’t beer connoisseurs, with information on guest brews available via the Untappd social media app, where The Head of Steam is a verified venue. Beer and cocktail masterclasses are also available for those that want to try their hand at something different.

But, it’s not all beer at The Head of Steam: a wide choice of wines, cocktails and spirits are offered, alongside a menu featuring pub classics with a twist, including a selection of burgers, pie and mash and artisan pizzas, with the barbecue pulled pork pizza proving popular.

The new bar will offer a series of regular events, including live music and quiz nights, while showing live sport, including the 2018 World Cup. It will also be sponsoring Birmingham Beer Week, which begins on July 19, while stocking a selection of exclusive Birmingham beers.

Established in 1995, The Head of Steam has 15 venues in cities such as Leeds, Newcastle, Hull, Nottingham, Leicester and Liverpool. Its launch in Birmingham has seen the creation of 35 new jobs and it has plans to open more venues across the UK this summer.
