With Hawkes available in many UK supermarket chains and on-trade venues, it has now launched a Hawkes Cidery arm in the USA.

Hawkes’ Stateside cider-making team have been working for the past six months on perfecting recipes that use Hawkes UK knowledge, but with American flair.

To reflect where Hawkes began, the lead cider, Slam Funk, will be created with English cider apples blended with American apples. This 6.7% ABV cider had to be something innovative and different for the fast-growing American cider market, and so Hawkes will be shipping apples over from the UK to the USA to create this.

The other ciders launching are Dead & Berried mixed berry and Doom & Bloom rosé style, with original UK recipes tweaked to now use American apples. 

To celebrate the launch of the brand in the USA, Hawkes founder, Simon Wright, is travelling to the new cidery arm and hosting tap takeovers and tastings around the state of Ohio, ultimately ending the trip at an all-out American cider festival — The Hawkes USA Launch Party — hosted at investor BrewDog’s DogTap Columbus. 

Simon said: “It’s always been my dream to get great cider into more peoples’ hands. We started with London and the UK, and our home turf market is exploding for us. We’re now the UK fastest growing craft cider brand, but we’re not stopping there.

“Sending our cider over to the USA was never going to be good enough. We had to work from the ground up to make American cider, with American ingredients and made with American hands. We can’t wait to meet loads of new Hawkes drinkers on our tour around the state, and we’re excited to join the craft cider revolution in another part of the world.”
