Harbour Soul Arch

Harbour Brewing Co has teamed up with surf and music event Boardmasters to create Soul Arch, branded as a post-surf IPA.

Soul Arch (4.2% ABV) is now on sale at selected stores, online and at some post-surf pubs and bars in the South West, and will be available across the Boardmasters site from August 9-13.

This lightly-hopped, easy-drinking IPA has tropical notes, an added hint of citrus for that extra thirst-quenching zing and is as refreshing as a dunk in the Atlantic Ocean. It is named after the stylish turn pioneered in the 70s at the Californian breaks of Malibu and Rincon, but made famous by the 1976 world champion, Peter Townend. The beer comes in a beach-friendly can.

Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was born in 1981. Expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day. The five-day event is situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall — the surfing Mecca of the UK, Fistral Beach, and arguably the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay. Julian Topham,co-chief executive of Vision Nine and the Boardmasters, said: “This is an exciting new development for the Boardmasters. Harbour is the perfect partner to brew our first beer with, and we are excited about getting our post-surf session IPA out to the beaches this summer.

“It will be available in select stores and bars from mid-July, and at the Boardmasters, alongside Corona and Cornish Orchards cider.”

Eddie Lofthouse, founder of Harbour Brewery, said: “Living and working on the North coast of Cornwall allows
us to enjoy a pretty special way of life. From surfing the swells or putting in a skate session after work, we really do have it good, and the fact that we then spend more of our time researching, testing and making beer than anything else, is no hardship.

“We’re massive fans of the Boardmasters festival here at the brewery, so we jumped at the chance to get on board to create the ultimate easy-drinking, refreshing, post-surf IPA, and we’re loving the Soul Arch moniker. Here’s to an awesome festival, and we’re looking forward to seeing in joint beer in the hands of locals and visitors alike.”
