The Heathfield Arms, in Fareham, Hampshire, is preparing to stage a bank holiday weekend of family fun in aid of local charity Rowans Hospice.

Heathfest, on Saturday and Sunday (August 25 and 26) will include a host of activities families, including live music from five bands.

Rowans Hospice provides quality care for those living with cancer and other life-limiting diseases in Hampshire. In January this year, a well-known Fareham resident and Heathfield regular, Doreen Allen, passed away. In her memory, experienced licensee Denise Haimes is aiming to raise £10,000 for the hospice from the festival.

Families can enjoy a hog roast as well as hot dogs and burgers, all sourced from local suppliers. For the children, there will be face painting, tug of war and lots of other entertainment. Adults won’t miss out either, with a bucking bronco in the pub garden for the brave-hearted!

There will be also be prizes up for grabs from a tombola and raffle. Local conservatory company Novaseal has donated the top prize, worth £20,000..

Denise said:“As long-time friends of Doreen, Tim and myself at the Heathfield Arms feel honoured to be hosting this event in memory of Doreen. She was a well-loved regular and dear friend at our pub, and we wanted to do something special in celebration of her life and raise some money for the Rowans Hospice in the process.”
