Hambleton Ales, based in Melmerby just outside Ripon, is opening up its brewery to the public again for a third annual open day. And this year it is set to be even bigger and better than before.

The brewery hosted its first ever open day in 2016 to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and the event was such a success that it was decided to make it an annual party.

Hambleton AlesThis year’s open day is taking place on Saturday, May 26, between 2pm and 9pm, and will include a bar showcasing the brewery’s range of cask, kegged and bottled beers, alongside a dedicated gin bar in a converted horse trailer, serving more than 44 speciality gins (including 11 from Yorkshire).

There will be food from Masham Sausages, based just 40 metres from the brewery, which uses Hambleton’s beer in its renowned Hog Hop sausages.

Music will be provided by the brewery’s own resident band, Replay, and there will be a bouncy castle and other activities for the young (and not so young!) to enjoy.

Entry to the open day is free, and there’s free parking on site. Free brewery tours will be taking place from 2pm until 5pm, and there will be tutored gin and beer tasting sessions which can be booked on the brewery’s website.

The band will be kicking off from 5pm, with the party continuing late into the night. The brewery is also providing a free bus, leaving from the King Billy, Ripon, however booking for this is essential.

Hambleton Ales owner, Nick Stafford, said: “The brewery open day is our biggest event of the year, and we do it as much for our staff as we do for the public. Everyone has such a great time.

“For those that came last year, you already know just how amazing it was, and I look forward to seeing you again. For anyone else looking for something to do on a bank holiday weekend, what could be better than a party in a brewery?!”
