The Glamorgan Brewing Company has won the arts, business and brand identity award at the 25th annual Arts & Business Cymru Awards for a limited edition ale for Wales Millennium Centre.

The awards ceremony celebrates companies and individuals who have worked with the arts to achieve core business objectives, which, in turn, benefit people and communities across Wales.

The winning beer, a specially branded version of the Llantrisant-based brewery’s popular Welsh Pale Ale, was released in 2017 to promote the Wales Millennium Centre’s latest production, Tiger Bay the Musical.

Following the partnership, sales of the Welsh Pale Ale increased by 900% — great news for the centre as all the proceeds from each purchase have gone back into providing arts opportunities at the venue.

Richard Anstee, managing director of Glamorgan Brewing, said: “As a proud Welsh business we were delighted to work with the centre on a special edition beer to promote a musical that is set in our homeland.

“We decided to donate the proceeds back to the centre as not many people know it is a charity. So we wanted to help raise awareness of the work they do and make a contribution, to ensure they can continue to produce shows like Tiger Bay the Musical.”
