Our recommendations for the weekend

Magic Rock / De Molen Brewery: De Mole (10% ABV, can)
A double mashed Mexican Mole inspired Imperial Stout. Ingredients include toasted pumpkin seeds, chilli, cacao nibs, coriander seed, cinnamon sticks and cumin.

St Austell Brewery: Adriatic (4.6% ABV, draught)
An absolutely beauty of a beer, enjoyed in the Star, Crowlas this week. Citrus and passionfruit notes against a lovely biscuit malt background. Easy drinking, yet big a flavourful. Made with Slovenian Styrian Wolf and Styrian Kolibri hops.

Browar Rockmill: various
The guys at Honest Brew are loving the New England style juice bombs from this Polish brewer. “Loaded with hops and overflowing with flavour.”

Signature Brew: Backstage IPA (5.6% ABV, can)
I’m making my way into a box of Signature Brew beers, my first meeting with the brand. A piney, resinous aroma, really punchy, with a citrus edge. On the palate, it’s more balanced than I was expecting, but there’s a lovely tingle of orange and lemon on the tongue, with a Spangle-like fruit sweetness. Ah, the memories…

Hopback Brewery: Entire Stout (4.5% ABV, bottle)
One of my favourite stouts for years now, oats are used in the recipe to give a creamy smoothness to the brew. It’s all about the rich malt on the palate, with notes of chocolate and aniseed. Delicious.
