Following another highly successful event last September, charity beer festival Craft Beer Cares is returning for a third time this summer.

Taking place from July 19 to 21 at London Fields Brewery, the event will feature beer from more than 30 breweries from at least seven countries, including the UK’s Beavertown and Cloudwater, Mikkeller and Dry & Bitter from Denmark, and the New Zealand Beer Collective.

Last year, more than £10,000 was raised for London-based anti-violence charity Art Against Knives; this year, proceeds from the festival will be donated to local homeless charity Hackney Winter Night Shelter (HWNS).

The charity’s Christina Ball said: “From November through to March — the coldest months of the year — Hackney Winter Night Shelter opens its doors to the most vulnerable in our community. Any money raised would be of enormous benefit and go towards providing food for our guests and heating the shelter venues.”

Craft Beer Cares 2019 sessions will run from 6 to 11pm on Friday, July 19, noon to 5pm and 6 to 11pm on the Saturday, and noon to 5pm on the Sunday.

‘Raising money for an incredible cause’

Tickets for each session are priced at £10 per person for a Craft Beer Cares branded glass and ten beer tokens, which can be used to purchase up to five servings of beer by the half-pint. Beers will be priced according to ABV, with stronger beers costing more tokens, and additional tokens will be available for purchase within the festival itself.

Craft Beer Cares founder, Gautam Bhatnagar, said: “I’m so proud of our team for what we achieved together last year, and we’re hoping to build on that success with a bit of fine-tuning to raise even more money this year for an incredible cause.

“I can’t thank everyone involved enough. The brewers are always nothing but gracious and generous with their beer and their time, and the volunteers have been truly incredible, making for a great atmosphere of charity and giving, all with a beer in hand.”

Breweries who have kindly offered to provide beer for Craft Beer Cares 2019 include: Beatnikz Republic, Big Drop, Brew By Numbers, BrewDog, Brixton Brewery, Brooklyn Brewery, Canopy, Cloudwater, Collective Arts, Dry & Bitter, East London Brewery, Fierce Beer, Fourpure, Gipsy Hill, Hale Brewing, The Kernel, Lervig, London Fields, Lost and Grounded, Magic Rock, Mikkeller, Mondo, NZ Beer Collective, Partizan, Siren, Solvay Society, Stone Brewing, Toast Ales, Verdant, Weird Beard, Whiplash, Wylam, and Yeastie Boys, with more to be confirmed.
