Posting on Twitter, the co-creator of the Parklife festival and the Warehouse Project said: “We cannot sit back and allow the government to close our pubs and bars without scientific evidence.

Meanwhile, restrictions in Scotland have been extended by a week, until 2nd November. Hospitality businesses in the country’s central belt were originally told closure was a “short, sharp action”. The country is also to introduce a five-tier restriction system.

Meanwhile, chancellor Rishi Sunak is expected to unveil new funding for businesses affected by lockdowns today. The statement is due to come in the House of Comms today (Thursday).
