Underneath the Arches: the new Brewhouse & Kitchen venue in Hoxton, London

Brewhouse & Kitchen will celebrate the official opening of its Hoxton brewpub today — the London district’s first on-site brewpub and brewery.

The architecturally unique venue is settled beneath the arches of Hoxton Station, the former site of The Beagle. Thoughtfully refurbished to provide a welcome watering hole for its local and passing patrons, its towering windows and exposed brick surfaces host tasteful mid-century interiors, with an open yet intimate outdoor seating area, alongside a 50 strong capacity restaurant.

The venue also hosts two seated bar-spaces both inside and outside, where drinkers can enjoy seasonal craft-beers, all brewed on-site.

The launch event will see the opening of the brewery and naming ceremony, welcoming all to take part in the festivities, which will include bar games, live entertainment and discounted drinks.

Situated amid London’s most populated start-up and freelance community, the venue is a stone’s throw from London’s famed Silicone Roundabout and delivers table service for all coffee and refreshments, ensuring it as a prime location for a relaxed yet professional environment.

Ideally suited for a comfortable co-working place or just a welcoming atmosphere in which to knuckle down to complete an important project, Brewhouse & Kitchen is ready to embrace the mobile working community that gives Hoxton its vibrancy.

Style and substance

The venue strikes the perfect balance between style and substance, says the operator. It boasts a new summer menu, complete with seasonal beer pairing suggestions and no less than 23 vegan and vegetarian options.

Simon Bunn, co-founder of Brewhouse & Kitchen, said: “We are very excited to open a brewpub in Hoxton and look forward to making lots of local friends, providing a service to the ever-growing community of Hoxton.

“Being situated right next to the Hoxton Overground station, we are a convenient stop off for everyone using the station next door.”

Founded in 2011 by pub industry veterans Simon Bunn and Kris Gumbrell, the fast-growing SME has 21 sites across the country, 16 of which have opened in the past two years, with more than 400 employees and one of the largest award-winning beer portfolios in the world.

With the pub industry facing challenging times, Simon and Kris saw an opportunity to acquire high-quality buildings to convert into Brewhouse & Kitchen pubs, influenced by the growing trend of craft beer and speciality food.
