Pub operator Brakspear is celebrating the role of the local in bringing couples together with a Brakspear Pub Love competition in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, giving customers the chance to win some romantic prizes in return for their tales of pub passion.

To take part, customers simply have to share the story of their pub romance by e-mail or social media. Prizes include a Pinkster G&T for two, a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rosé, or a generous hamper containing one of the drinks plus some other goodies, all to be enjoyed, or collected from, the pub where they first met.

Emma SweetBrakspear is supplying all of its pubs with pink, heart-shaped beer mats to promote the competition, as well as graphics for them to add to their own websites or social media channels.

Emma Sweet (pictured), Brakspear marketing manager, said: “People might be finding dates online through websites and apps these days, but in our experience, plenty of lasting relationships still start in the pub.

“We’ve seen love blossom in many of our pubs, on both sides of the bar, and across it. Several of our tenant couples met while working or drinking together, and we’ve heard of lots of customers who first set eyes on their significant other in the pub.

“We thought it would be fun to celebrate pub romances around Valentine’s Day and remind our customers that love affairs can start in their local. The Pub Love campaign is a great way to drive footfall into our pubs, as all the prizes have to be enjoyed in, or collected from, the pub, and we’re sure that the romantic atmosphere it creates will rekindle a few feelings and encourage couples of all ages and stages of relationship to spend Valentine’s back where it all started – in a Brakspear pub.”

To enter the Brakspear Pub Love competition, customers need to post their story on https://www.facebook.com/brakspearpubs/ on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #brakspearpublove, or by e-mail to love@brakspear.co.uk — winners will be notified in time to enjoy or collect their prize on February 14.
