Arran Brewery owner Gerald Michaluk, who is also a member of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) board and executive, has been appointed a director of Flying Firkin.

Flying Firkin  distributes cask ale and keg craft beers for more than 225 independent craft breweries and is 75% owned by SIBA. Gerald’s appointment will need to be ratified by the SIBA board at its June meeting.

Gerald (pictured) said: “I am happy to add this job to my portfolio and would like to see Flying Firkin do well in the UK market for the benefit of SIBA members and its other customers.

“It is sometimes difficult for Scottish brewers to send cask and keg ale south, but with Flying Firkin regularly collecting casks and dropping off empties in Scotland, it offers a great route to market for Scottish brewers brave enough to venture into the rest of the UK, while it offers Scottish beer festivals access to some fine English ales.

“I am looking forward to working with the team at Flying Firkin and doing what I can to help promote and distribute fantastic British beers from mostly, but not exclusively, independent producers.”
