Bermondsey-based Anspach & Hobday is celebrating the festive season by throwing its annual Christmas Carols celebration at its brewery taproom, complete with its annual Christmas beer, The Pfeffernüsse Saison, being served.

The event will be taking place on Friday, December 6, from 6pm, with patrons able to sample the annual Christmas brew along with mince pies and a selection of Anspach & Hobday kegs.

Anspach & Hobday has held its annual Christmas Carols since the brewery was founded, in 2014, making this the sixth event. The team have worked with Matt The List, #BeerGeekAwards World Champ ’18, to find the finest voices of our time, and he will be leading the choir and crowd alike through verse after verse.

The Pfeffernüsse Saison is inspired by the traditional tasty German Christmas ‘peppernut’ biscuit of the same name. It is an amber saison style beer, brewed with candied sugar and spiced with ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamon, cloves, and black pepper.

This year, the label on the bottle of the The Pfeffernüsse Saison will also feature the winning entry from Anspach & Hobday’s Christmas poem competition. They invited the public to pen their own poem about the seasonal beer and Christmas, with the winner of this year’s competition being Chris Green.
