Adnams has joined forces with five breweries from five continents to create a limited-edition beer to celebrate a great summer of football.

The all-star team joining Adnams in this exciting collaboration is Baird (Japan), Bodebrown (Brazil), Devil’s Peak (South Africa) and Primus (Mexico).

Together, these popular breweries from around the world have taken inspiration from the beautiful game and Russia — host to this summer’s big sporting event — to create a light bodied beer, the Bicycle Kick Kolsch. It’s an easy drinker designed to be enjoyed at any time of day.

The ingredients include the national flower of Russia, camomile, which is combined with honey, caramel and biscuit malt, starting the beer with a hint of sweetness. These flavours then tackle the zesty lemongrass representative of the playing turf, which ends the beer with a bitter finish.

The Bicycle Kick Kolsch pours a very light gold colour with a light haze and creamy sip. It is a beer best served cold when temperatures are rising and enjoyed with typical summer favourites such as garden salads, barbecue grilled salmon and savoury snacks.

Fergus Fitzgerald, head brewer at Adnams, said: “We are so excited to be a part of this international collaboration of beers. Football itself brings nations together to celebrate people’s love of the sport, so it is great to be adding another aspect of international enjoyment with a beer spectators from across the globe can enjoy!

“It is a honour to be working alongside these popular breweries, and we can’t wait for people all over the world to enjoy this creation! We think this beer is a real victory”.

The Bicycle Kick Kolsch is available on general release and online at adnams.co.uk. This limited edition beer will be available in a 30-litre keg and 330ml can.
