St Austell Brewery was the big winner at this year’s Beer and Cider Marketing Awards, staged at the Old Truman Brewery, in East London.
It took the award for best beer marketing of the year and best integrated campign, for Tribute, before going on to be announced as beer and cider marketer of the year.
Awards co-founder and head judge, Pete Brown (pictured above), said: “The spread of entries we’ve had this year was the best yet. Together they showcase a real broadening of creative ideas in the beer and cider market — and it really is in both beer and cider.
“After a somewhat muted debut in the awards last year, cider has come through very strongly this year. The judges’ discussion was robust and yet mostly positive — it kept us busy well into the evening!
“There are going to be lots of insights to be learned from this year’s winners.”
Hiver Beers won the award for best corporate social responsibility initiative. Founder, Hannah Rhodes, said: “Hiver is, first and foremost, about great quality beer, but increasingly we’ve seen how important it can be as consumers scratch the surface and find something more underneath.
“When starting the business, I believed that whatever the size, that you can be both successful and ethical at the same time. Exactly five years on, our approach hasn’t changed, and we remain passionate in our support for British bees, beekeepers and UK industry as a whole.”
The awards are run in partnership with national drinks supplier, Matthew Clark.
