TrAles of the Unexpected are organising a walking tour of Canterbury on International Beer Day, 7th August.

Chouffe Cherry

Chouffe is accelerating its UK retail expansion with the nationwide launch of Chouffe Cherry in Co-op stores. With Chouffe Cherry delivering more than 50% year-to-date volume growth compared with the same period in 2025, the launch strengthens Chouffe’s presence within convenience.

Brewed in the Belgian Ardennes, Chouffe Cherry (8% ABV) combines the iconic character of La Chouffe with the vibrant flavour of cherries. It balances sweet notes with subtle spice and a smooth finish.

Siren Craft Brew are to take on the former BrewDog bar in Cheltenam. The bar is located in the town’s Brewery Quarter and will become the brewer’s fourth venue, the first outside of Berkshire.

• Tapped Leeds has closed its doors for the last time The brewpub has been operating for 12 years, and closes as its lease comes to an end. “We’re incredible proud of what we’ve achieved,” the owners said on social media. “The beers we’ve brewed, the friendships made, the team member’s who’ve been part of the journey, and the role we’ve played in Leeds’ brilliant independent beer community.”

• The 1936 Pub Company has taken over the site of the former Maggie May café on Bold Street, Liverpool. It will re-open later in the summer as The Angel Inn.

• Belgium & Blues has closed its doors for the last time in Southampton. But the owners have left open the idea that the bar could re-open elsewhere.

Zonal, the hospitality technology provider, has announced the appointment of Joel Chapman as chief executive officer, effective from Wednesday. The appointment comes at a time of stability and investment for the business, which was acquired by Volaris Group earlier this year. Joel has been part of Zonal since 2002 and brings more than two decades of hospitality technology to the role.

• Southern pub group Country Inns has acquired the Rockingham Arms, in the New Forest, from RedCat Hospitality.

JD Wetherspoon is to open a new pub on the University of Surrey campus, Guildford, on Tuesday, 14th July. The venue will be named The Sir Ronald Wates.
