Tate Modern is to host a Burning Sky tap takeover this week as part of a celebration of the artist Cezanne and the food and drink of Provence.

Burning Sky Victoire
The can artwork for Victoire by Simon Gane

The event will see the launch of Victoire, a Cezanne-inspired collaboration with South Downs-based brewer and blender Burning Sky.

Victoire is a pale ale with ochre hues from speciality malts that give honey and light biscuit notes. The unique blend of hops give aromas of fresh herbs, pine, and citrus, designed to transport one to Provence.

The event will offer the opportunity to chat to Burning Sky founder Mark Tranter and his team about the brewery and the beers they create. There will also be a chance to start a conversation with artist Simon Gane, whose striking label design was inspired by Cezanne’s time in Provence.

The beers available will be:

  • Luppoleto Pils, Italian pilsner, 5.2% ABV
  • Arise, pale ale, 4.4% ABV
  • Saison Autumne, saison, 4.2% ABV
  • Pretty Mess, modern IPA, 7% ABV
  • Victoire, Cezanne-inspired pale ale, 4.8% ABV

The beers will be accompanied by Provence-inspired small plates:

  • Slow roast Roscoff onion, pickled walnuts, chicory, and dandelion salad
  • Bouillabaisse rouille
  • Duck’ Cassoulet’, Toulouse sausage, brioche crumbs
  • Tarte Tropezienne
