Flookburgh’s Fell Brewery has again teamed up with friends at Pennington’s Tea and Coffee, in Kendal, on sour beer Cuppa Rosie.

Cold infused with Blue Lady tea, Cuppa Rosie is a light, gently soured beer, jam packed with mango and apricot. In can for the first time, it’s described as the perfect thirst-quenching summer beer.

The beer is the brainchild of Fell brewer Imogen Beedham and Pennington’s director, Gina Pennington. Having previously used the local coffee merchants House Espresso beans in dark beer Cuppa Joe, the pair joined forces again to collaborate on this unique sour beer with a twist.

“We first brewed Cuppa Rosie back in September 2020,” said Imogen. “It didn’t really get a fair run due to all the interruptions in trade from restrictions and lockdowns, so we brought it back. We’ve upped the fruit, put it in can, and it’s tasting awesome!”

Gina added: “We’re huge fans of Fell Brewery, and Tinderbox IPA is one of our favourite beers. We were thrilled when we started Pennington’s that Fell wanted to do a collab with us, and after the success of Cuppa Joe we wanted to do a beer with tea.

“A brainstorm with Imogen, and Cuppa Rosie was created. This is the second run and this one tastes even better.”

Packing 120kg of mango and apricot, 12kg of Pennington’s Blue Lady tea, and clocking in at 3.5% ABV, Cuppa Rosie is available to buy in cans from the brewery’s online shop, Fell Bars in Kendal, Penrith, and Chorlton, the brewery’s pub, The Royal Oak, in Cartmel, and selected independent bottle shops across the North West.
