Rooster’s Brewing Co will be donating more than £850 to a local Harrogate charity with its annual brew of White Rose this summer.
Real ale drinkers who buy the refreshing pale ale will be supporting Harrogate District Foodbank.
The beer has been brewed to coincide with Yorkshire Day, on 1st August, since 2011. This year’s batch means White Rose will have now raised more than £10,000 for a variety of local charities.
Tom Fozard, Rooster’s commercial director, said: “Rooster’s is a small, family-owned business, with our roots in Harrogate, so we’re pleased to support a different Yorkshire-based charity each year, and we’re delighted that the funds raised from this year’s brew of White Rose will be helping to raise funds for Harrogate District Foodbank.
“The beer will be available on the bar at our Taproom in Harrogate and is also being delivered to various pubs within the Harrogate area, throughout Yorkshire, and beyond. We hope you’ll join us in raising a glass, all the while helping to support a truly worthwhile cause in the comfort of your favourite pub. Cheers!”
Rooster’s will be celebrating its 30th anniversary next year. The Taproom, situated in Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, is open six days a week, offering street food and, of course, great beer, brewed onsite.
Dawn Cussons, manager at Harrogate District Foodbank, said: “The foodbank opened up in Harrogate in 2013, with our Knaresborough site opening a year later and our Starbeck location following in 2021. We operate four times a week as a source for emergency food and run purely on donations with a team of volunteers — 88 in total.
“As well as food being donated, we also accept financial donations, which contributes towards our rent, the upkeep of the warehouse, and our trusty second-hand van, to top up of any shortages at the warehouse in order to meet the needs at each centre. We also buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and bread four times a week, and provide a hot meal for clients on a weekly basis, so we’re extremely grateful for Rooster’s support.”
