Hogs Back Brewery is launching its first collaboration , When Hogs Fly, a cask American pale ale brewed with Mondo Brewing Co.

When Hogs Fly

The beer will be available from 4th July exclusively in Fuller’s pubs, supported with a customer incentive, and in Hogs Back’s Brewery tap and shop.

When Hogs Fly is a refreshing, generously hopped 4.2% ABV American pale ale. Brewed at Hogs Back’s brewery in Tongham, Surrey, it uses Cascade hops grown in its hop garden, as well as Mosaic and Cryo Citra.

To encourage trial of When Hogs Fly, all 100 Fuller’s pubs selling the beer will be offering drinkers the chance to win a £100 gift voucher by posting an image on Instagram. Mondo is also running a sales incentive, with a staff party for the winning pub, based on firkins ordered.

Hogs Back Brewery managing director, Rupert Thompson, said: “We were delighted to work with Mondo Brewing and are excited to see customer response to When Hogs Fly in Fuller’s pubs and our own tap.

“The partnership between our two breweries worked well, combining our different skills and expertise to create a beer we’re both very proud of. This was Hogs Back’s first collaboration with another brewer, but we’re confident it won’t be our last!”

Mondo Brewing founder and director of brewing, Tom Palmer, added: “We had never brewed a cask ale before, and as an American it’s not a style I knew much about. So when we decided to brew our first cask ale, we knew we needed to partner with another brewer, and who better than Hogs Back as legends of cask?

“Brewing with the Hogs Back’s team, including head brewer Miles Chesterton, was an eye-opener. I hadn’t realised that brewing cask ale is such a manual operation, completely different to keg in so many ways. It was also great to add Cascade hops grown just yards from the brewhouse, an option that’s not available to us at our brewery in Battersea.”
