A long-standing partnership between St Austell Brewery and the Fisherman’s Friends has been extended for another year.

Fisherman’s Friends toast the partnership with St Austell Brewery with — what else? — Tribute

The two have been working together for more than ten years. In that time the eight-piece singing group has become Cornwall’s number one ‘buoy band’, and St Austell has built on its brewing and hospitality success.

The renewal comes as the band’s story is set for a return to the big screen. Following the success of the 2019 debut movie, the sequel will be released later this year. Fans should keep their eyes out for the official trailer, to be released soon.

The partnership will also see the band perform a series of exclusive gigs at St Austell Brewery’s pubs, and at the Royal Cornwall Show on Saturday, 11th June. Tribute Pale Ale will continue as the official beer of the band.

St Austell Brewery has supported Fisherman’s Friends since their beginnings in Port Isaac, North Cornwall. The brewery helped to finance some of the band’s early albums, and ensured members had a regular supply of Tribute. The group signed a record deal with Universal Music in 2010 and delivered their first top ten album in the UK that same year.

Laura McKay, head of marketing for St Austell Brewery’s beers and brands, said: “We’re incredibly proud and excited to renew this partnership. The shanty singing of the Fisherman’s Friends truly celebrates the special spirit of Cornwall and our community. Since day one, the partnership has felt like a natural fit.”

“All at St Austell Brewery are looking forward to continuing this journey with them, supporting their upcoming live events and the release of their sequel — Fisherman’s Friends: One and All.”

Fisherman’s Friends singer Jon Cleave said: “The Fisherman’s Friends are proud to continue sailing to success on a sea of Tribute.”
