A strike involving beer delivery drivers has been called off, but pubs and bars could still face shortages over the bank holiday weekend.

Industrial action was called off on Friday after the Unite union, representing drivers, struck a deal with GXO logistics, which takes beer to some 40% of Britain’s licensed premises. A 4% pay increase was agreed.

It will, however, take some time for supplies to get back to normal, and that service may not be resumed before the weekend.

Brands affected include Heineken, Fosters, John Smiths, Kronenbourg, Strongbow, and Amstel. A spokesperson for Heineken said: “It will take some time to get the network back to capacity.”
