St Austell Brewery’s flagship lager brand korev has announced a new partnership with the Marine Conservation Society. The UK’s leading marine environment, not-for-profit organisation, has also been named as St Austell’s charity of the year.

Supporting green, sustainable initiatives that help safeguard the environment is a mission that’s close to the lager brand and parent St Austell Brewery’s heart.

The Marine Conservation Society campaigns for a cleaner, better-protected, healthier ocean. The charity tackles threats to habitats and species by working closely with communities, businesses, and governments, organising beach cleans, and shaping government policy.

korev will be supporting the charity’s Great British Beach Clean, a week-long event from 17th to 26th September when hundreds of beach cleans take place nationwide. The Marine Conservation Society logo will also be featuring on the lager’s 100% recyclable cardboard can packs soon.

In addition to the korev partnership, the Marine Conservation Society has been named charity of the year by St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust. The trust is funded by contributions from the brewery, as well as donations from customers and fundraising events held at its head offices, depots, and pubs. Since it was launched in 2003, it’s donated more than £800,000 to charities and causes across the region.

In April 2018, St Austell Brewery was awarded a prestigious Queen’s Award for sustainability across its operations and long-term commitment to green brewing and reducing the impact of its business on the environment.

The company was praised for its ongoing investments to become more sustainable, including water treatment facilities, the installation of solar panels, achieving zero waste to landfill status across its managed pub estate, and establishing a barley growing partnership with Cornish farms.

Earlier this year, St Austell Brewery made the switch to a 100% renewable and sustainable supply of carbon dioxide — a crucial component in the company’s brewing and production process.
