Sascha Brand (pictured) has been named as European sales director for Stone Brewing — the 41-year-old will take up the post in Berlin on January 2.

He will be responsible for the distribution of the Stone portfolio in more than 30 European countries. In addition, he will work to expand the sales network, set up new partnerships and sustainably develop the brand.

Marcus Thieme, vice-president and general manager of Stone Brewing Berlin, said: “His extensive international experience, innovative thinking, and deep knowledge about beer and sales make Sascha the ideal addition to our team.

“Together, we will continue to expand our distribution and increase awareness of Stone Brewing in the European markets. Of course, we love that he’s a craft beer fan who shares our go-your-own-way attitude.”

Sascha said: “While working in New York, I fell in love with the variety of more hop-forward IPAs. I am very much looking forward now to being a part of the burgeoning craft beer movement in Germany and Europe via Stone Brewing Berlin.

“What could be more exciting than contributing to the success of one of the most innovative craft brewers in Europe, and to spread the passion of hoppy beers to Germans and Europeans?”

Sascha has been in the beer industry for 15 years and spent the last five years in the US, based in New York, where he became intimately familiar with the incredible diversity and vibrancy of the US craft beer renaissance.

He completed his studies at the Business Academy Dresden in 2007 with a degree in business administration and a focus on marketing.
